… I thought I knew everything! It’s still 10 years since hair care is almost an obsession for me. All this time, it has become an automatism to read the ingredients the products contain and to choose only those that match my normal hair type but affected by a slight dermatitis. I tried different types of shampoos and conditioners and about some of them I wrote here. Some satisfied me, others disappeared from my life, but in recent years I’ve discovered a reasonable balance between using the products I want and tolerate them.
However, I have a big problem: my hair is falling. A lot. I’ve read about it and understood that it is a normal regeneration process, especially as my hair is long and needs many nutrients to survive. In addition, it isn’t very thick either. In the desperation of not seeing myself bald, because that look wouldn’t make me much more attractive, I’ve used natural masks, as you know: egg yolk, castor oil, vitamin E and many more. I didn’t practice this type of care being lazy. When I almost lost all my hopes on the future of curls, the miraculous solution appeared.
I was in the countryside at my mum’s, surrounded by brothers, cousins and other dear ones when, without anticipating what would happen next, I heared my cousin who lives in Germany:
“I also want to buy it, because I and my daughters’ hair loss.”
At this, another dear cousin, who is a hairdresser and even a very good one, said: “Yes, it is very good, everybody buys it …I suddenly became attentive, because it was a problem for which I had no solution, hence I joined the conversation, asking what it was about.
“How! Didn’t you hear about horse shampoo?” I don’t know which one of them asked me, but I was puzzled. I didn’t understand and tried to find logic, before asking for details about a product a lot of people have used for a long time. I’ve thought a million things for a few seconds, but my values would be changed when they told me it was a simple shampoo, costing 8 lei and found in veterinary pharmacies. This was supposed to be used for bathing horses. Exactly. It was this!
Well, I thought it was a bad joke, but information came from some people who knew what they were talking about. That’s how it happened that once I got home, I started making plans to get my courage to go to a veterinary pharmacy and ask for horse shampoo. I didn’t look like a horse farmer.
I faced the fears and, with dignity, I entered the first veterinary pharmacy. In front of me, a man bought dog food; he probably had dogs at home and had to feed them … but I … I … what horse to wash? While the vet was busy weighing nourishing dog food, I was looking at the shelves to see if they were identifying what I was looking for. Suddenly I heard myself saying:
“Do you have horse shampoo?” I thought he didn’t hear me, he didn’t look up to me and did his job for a few seconds. Then he answered me:
“Yes, today I received two big boxes (OMG! There must be a horse beauty contest!)”. I keep on asking him: “Is it true people can use it, too?” The moment the dogwood buyer returned intriguingly to me. Without hesitation, the doctor tells me that in two days he will finish the reserves, that many people come and buy and that this product is sold almost exclusively for human use.
The tense moment was over, I got the answers I wanted, I was just waiting to buy the shampoo. Incredibly, the man in front of me asked the doctor: “But why is this shampoo so good? “When he gets the list of benefits, the man also buys one for his wife’s loss hair, too.
After that he leaves, I pay for two shampoos and I left the pharmacy because I risked bursting out laughing … about what it happened, but outside, in the sight of the world, but who cared? I was happy with two horse shampoos. Why two? To have it in stock.
Seriously speaking, I want to say that this shampoo was very good for hair loss, but it dried it, and I noticed it after a long time of use, about three months, a time when I recommended it to 3 friends and colleagues in the office, but I sent 2 pieces to Germany in my summer that created this hysteria in my life. I interrupted using it a few months because it dries the scalp already affected by dermatitis and my dandruff appeared again. Now I use a shampoo bought on iherb and drops of tea tree oil that I mix with my shampoo to wash.
This was my adventure for horse shampoo chase.
I’m preparing again for a superlative holiday. Now I’m taking the first steps. I’ll keep you informed!
