Claudiu Ovidiu Târnovean, a convinced traveler and a well-known travel blogger and I, we share a beautiful “virtual friendship”. Claudiu lives in Târgu Mureş and works in the banking field, and his passion for travel takes him to absolutely impressive places. His blog, https://cocotraveling.com/, hides, through deeply inspired rows, emotions, feelings, impressions, tips from places where he traveled, and spectacular photographs made with the passion of a man who is in love with beautiful places.
He has recently returned from a vacation he spent on the white and fine beaches of the Maldives, where he had some great experiences he dreamed about long before he got there. He stayed at one of the most beautiful places from Maldives, Sun Island Resort & Spa – Maldives
I did not leave him too long to come back and “I got him questions” right after he landed in the country. I invite you to discover Claudiu as he is now, with fresh Maldives bronze:
- Wow! Claudiu, Maldives is a destination where many of us want to get to. What was this magical place for you before you got there?
First of all, I want to thank you for this interview. And to answer the question: categorically, for me, the Maldives was a dream and I wanted for a long time to get here. I’m on the principle that if you want to get somewhere and want this from the bottom of your soul, you can accomplish your desire. I can say that once you get there, you realize, in 5 minutes, that you have come to paradise and it is worth the effort. And when I say effort, I mean the financial aspect.
- Have you traveled to the Maldives on your own or through a travel agency?
I only have 3 times turned to a single travel agency and this time I was with them as well, because I trust them and those from agency are my friends. I tried to go on my own, but the transfer cost a lot and I would not have won at all.
- How have the Maldives been waiting for you??
With plenty of sun, warmth, friendly people but also with the smallest detail on point. As we arrived in the resort we were awaited with wet towels and a cold drink.
- What is the best experience you’ve ever experienced in the Maldives?
The best experience was that I swam with the shark whale, an experience that will remain embedded in my soul and memory for the rest of my life. I also swam with the mantle of ray (the giant sea devil), with turtles and saw how 30 dolphins live freely in the Indian Ocean. I also swam with 5 sharks, but they were small (that’s just to calm my family and friends ?). I was impressed to tears, literally. When you realize that dreams come true, you are overwhelmed by some feelings you can not describe in words.
- Is there a culinary dish that you discovered on the islands and that made you fall in love with it?
The food was very good. I can say that we ate various fish dishes and we noticed a great Indian influence. We devoured a great variety of sweets made of fruits that grew on the island. They were so good and tasty … 🙂
- How does a day pass in the Maldives?
I woke up every morning at 6 to drink my coffee at sunrise. I was in the bungalow on the beach. As I admired the sun as it tensed its muscles to penetrate the turquoise horizon, there were five small and playful sharks in front of me. Every day we went to different places on the island to discover as many hidden corners as possible. In the paradise, days pass quickly, because you are fascinated by such beauty.
- Is it Maldives a cheap destination?
I can not say that it is a cheap and affordable destination. It depends how much you are willing to pay for this paradise.
- Do you have a funny story for us from the time spent on the islands?
On our leaving for another island where we had the flight to Male, after we passed the security and waited for boarding, I asked the security guards if they let me smoke a cigarette out ?! And they allowed me. I did not believe it and I laughed about it a lot. The Maamigili airport was very small and there were only 5 meters to the exit.
- Tell me five things to put in our baggage for the Maldives.
Sunglasses and snorkeling tube, 50+ sun protection cream, quality snorkeling equipment with 50+ sunscreen protection blouses and GoPro camera.
- How do the hours on airplanes on long destinations pass for you??
I really like flying and for me it’s not a problem if I have a long flight: listening to music, watching movies, documenting, reading. But it depends whether the flight is night or day. Now I had a night flight and left at 02:00 from Istanbul to Male and I slept longer. We arrived there at 12:00 (-3 GMT)
- How many countries have you visited so far and wich one has captured you the most?
I have seen about 35 unique countries. But some of them I have visited many times and to give just one example, Italy, where I was 40 times in 10 years as a traveler. Surely the Maldives fascinated me the most, it is fascinating what I saw and what I lived there, I can not describe in words.
- Which will be your next destination?
I would like to be Singapore and Bali, or a cruise in the Caribbean to include 7-8 countries and which has Miami as a starting point.
Thank you, Claudiu!
